Minor" Click for more minor pictures Minor Championship: Minors lost out to Mullagh by 2-13 to 2 -07 This quater final was decided in a few moments of madness shortly after the restart of a well contested opening half. Carnmore started very well playing against the wind and fought and contested every ball. A long delivery from Martin Talbot was well directed to the net by Alan Traynor and Martin Talbot goaled himself just before the break to leave just 2 points in it in favour of Mullagh.
Donie Fox who is struggling with a hamstring injury came on at the restart for Aaron Fox. But when a melee broke out around midfield just five miniutes into the half after Carnmore had won a free it developed into a brawl and some nasty pulling was done by both sides and the referee sent Donie Fox to the line but a Mullagh player should also have got sent off. It was a struggle for Carnmore from there on, they tried very hard but could not deal with the extra man. It was a pity this incident happened for players and management who have put so much effort into the year but well done to Enda Flaherty, John Feeney and Mike Fox and all the minor panel for a good minor campaign.

Carnmore minors recorded a fine win over Abbeyknockmoy by 4-10 to 3-09 which was played in Turloughmore on Sunday evening 20th Sept. Carnmore played with the aid of a very strong breeze in the first half but Abbey were first to score with a goal from a penalty. Carnmore slowly got into the game and got on top but another penalty for Abbey left it 1-07 to 2-01 at half-time. A 3 point lead did not seem to be enough due to the wind but the work rate and charachter of Carnmore was a joy to watch and they really stood up to the physical challenge. Donie Fox gave the team a lift by coming on at the restart, and man of the match Martin Talbot had a powerful second half. Ciaran Fahy had made a vital reflex save and Carnmore grew in confidence all over the pitch and despite the elements they earned a fine win. Best for Carnmore were Garry Grealish, Darren Fahy, Martin Talbot, Jason Byrne, Glen McArdle and Alan Trainor and Aaron Fox who put over some vital frees

Seniors held their senior status with a 4-12 to 3-09 win over Cappatagle. : Relief was the feeling in Carnmore after this relegation match. Carnmore made it hard work for a period in the second half and allowed Cappa to come back into the game and even go a point up. This was despite a blistering start by the reds and especially by Barry Hanley who was on fire and got 3 first half points from play.
The Carnmore defence were also well on top and up front 5 of the forwards got on the score sheet and a very good goal just before half time by Shane Hynes left it 1-09 to 0-4 points at the break. However Carnmore let Cappa back in to the game after the restart and 2-03 rattled Carnmore. But Carnmore replied with one of the best scores of the game by Shane Hynes as he won poccession at midfield and carried to the forty and struck a great point, then Barry Hanley hit a cracking shot only to see it rebound off the crossbar. Goals win games and Carnmore got 3 in the second half 2 from Shane Hynes and a great flick by Darragh Leonard who had a very good hour and despite a late Cappa goal from a free the final score was 4-12 to 3-09 . Carnmore Tomas Grealish, Anthony Davoren, Joe Garrett, Ronnie Walsh (Capt), Eoin Hynes (0-1), T.J. Hynes, Cathal Hynes, Enda Cooney, Declan O'Brien, John Paul O'Connell (0-2), Shane Hynes (3-03), Barry Hanley(0-3) Darragh Leonard (1-01), George Hanley(0-2), Mickey Grealish, Kieran Murray for Enda Cooney.

Cathal Hanley, Liam Brennan and Ciaran Fahy were all recovering from flu while Brian Noone, Eoin Lardner and Eoin Grealish were unable to play due to flu. This was a huge pity as they still only lost by one point and had a great chance of winning this championship. In the final group game Carnmore won by 7-07 to Annaghdowns 0-04. This result left Carnmore on top of their group.
This was Brian McKeons finest hour at ful forward and he scored 2-02 from play. Other scores came from Kevin Hanley 2-01, Keegan Fox 1-01, Oisin Keane 0-02, Cathal Hanley 0-01, Kevin Killilea 1-00, Brian Noone 1-00. A great performance by Donie Fox in which he opened the scoring for Galway but also scored an excellent second half point on 42 miniutes which turned the game and stopped the Kilkenny fightback made this all Ireland a proud day for Donie and also for the club. Well done Donie.

U13s play Liam Mellows in Carnmore on Tues next in City League - we are already in Qtr final playoffs of competition but a win would see them thru to Semi finals.

Under 14 Championship semi-final: Carnmore 1-09 Kinvara 1-06. This was a fine game of hurling between two very good teams which was played in Ballindereen on Monday evening 8th June. Ben Murray gave an exhibition of free taking and scored 0-08 from frees. Ryan Manning scored 0-01 and Kevin Hanleys long range free made it to the net with just 2 miniutes left. But this game was won by a team effort of hard tackling, hard work and good skill. Carnmore now wait for the winners of Meelick Eyrecourt and Ardrahan in the final.

Under 8 Blitz: What a way to spend a bank holiday! Over two hundred and twenty enthusiastic young players were joined with their coaches and parents at the annual u8 blitz at Carnmore pitch. With the sun splittign the rocks, a great family atmosphere was created with the pitch swarmed with players and coaches plus some parents with deck chairs. Sean Grealish provided a mobile shop on the day and the Fox family supplied delicious home made ice cream to the delight on many. There were also cakes and sandwiches and treats brought on the day by many parents, and provided free of charge to all who attended the blitz. Everybody was a winner on the day, with eleven teams competing, all the players received an individual medal to celebrate the day. The U14 team made their own contribution to the blitz by diligently refereeing all the matches on the day The day itself was enjoyed by all the coaches and parents (With many compliments, texts and phone calls received) and most importantly the players. This was down to the great organisation of Fiona Molloy, Hilda Murray, Patricia Concannon, and the many helpers on the day. The club looks forward to seeing continued support for this wonderful event.

Senior Championship first round Carnmore and Killimordaly had been refixed from Saturday evening as Athenry pitch was unplayable due to very heavy rain, but the rain persisted in Pearse Stadium to spoil the game and the hurling from Carnmore in the first half was of a very poor standard. Killimordaly dealt much better with the elements and playing with the wind clocked up some early scores from play and frees as Carnmore struggled all over the pitch to get into the game. Killimordaly looked fitter and had a better first touch, and they blocked and hooked with great determination while Carnmore were still playing at a league pace. Shane Hynes was off form from frees and this only highlighted the over dependence on him for scores and the half time score was Killimordaly 0-09 Carnmore 0-01. George Hanley came on for Mickey Grealish at the restart. Carnmore hurled with alot more determination in the second half and Shane Hynes began to find the target from frees but only four points from play during the hour is not enough to win championship matchs. Final score was Carnmore 0-09 Killimordaly 0-14. Team: Tomas Grealish, Joe Garrett Niall McGovern, Ronnie Walsh, Declan O'Brien, TJ Hynes, Cathal Hynes Shane Hynes, Enda Cooney, Danny Cummins, JP O'Connell, Anthony Davoren, Donie Fox, Barry Hanley, Mickey Grealish
