Poor Game Ends in a Draw

Carnmore 3-6

Fohenagh 2-9

With neither side having much regard for caution, this game developed into a real rough battle and player from both sides received marching orders.

The motto of both sides seemed to be not to give in without a fight and this they stuck to rigidly throughout the hour. The end result was that "both sides lived to fight another day" with the scores level after sixty minutes of play. The overall standard of play was again very low and whichever side survives the replay, they will want to show a marked improvement in the next round.

There was nothing between the sides after the first quarter but a Fohenagh goal from a schemozzle in the parellogram gave them a lead. They held this lead until half time despite efforts by Padraic Fahy for Carnmore.

The sides exchanged goals after the resumption of play, and Fohenagh maintained their lead until midway through the second half when Carnmore drew level with a well taken goal by Greaney.Ten minutes left to play saw Carnmore take a two point lead with another goal, but a final rally by Fohenagh powered by Tim Sweeney led to the equalizer just before the final whistle.

Padraic Fahy was the star of the Carnmore side and got good support from M. Kerrigan Mattie Cooney, P. Walsh and. W. Greaney. Fohenagh were well served by M. Moylette, Sean Glennon, Mick Coen Mick Glynn, Tim Sweeney and D Barrett.
