In a one sided game Carnmore ran out easy winners. For the first fifteen minutes Oranmore-Maree were leading by three points but after that Carnmore took control under very bad conditions. The Carnmore backs played themselves to a standstill and ex-county star Jimmy Conroy stood out. At the interval Carnmore left corner forward Willie Greaney was their top scorer with four goals. Bad marking by the Maree-Oranmore defence and poor finishing by the forwards led to their downfall.
BEST PLAYERS
Carnmore’s best were Paddy Walsh in goal, Johnny Long, Jimmy Conroy, Roddy Kenny and Matty Cooney and at mid-field John Murphy and Mickey Hanley. Best forwards were Michael Greaney, Willie Greaney and Jimmy Hughes. Best for a poor Oranmore-Maree team were; J. Greally, T. McGrath, J. Furey, B.O Connor, M. Hannify, S Burke. Carnmore meet Castlegar in the semi-final.
