Junior A Hurling Championship Quarter Final Report:
Carnmore 1 - 12 Mullagh 1 - 10
Johnny Duggan's charges advanced to a county semi-final spot, after defeating Mullagh in a great game of hurling in Clarenbridge on Friday the 17th of August and now await the winners of Castlegar or Portumna.
Carnmore got off to a bad start when Mullagh scored a quick goal from play. This was the wake up call that Carnmore needed and they started to play good hurling with points from Damian Fahy and a good long range point from Michael Walsh. The defensive work of Carnmore's forwards was very much in evidence and contributing greatly to Carnmore getting a grip on the game. A goal came from Damian Fahy from a perfectly placed pass sent in by the dominant mid field general Michael Paul Flaherty At half-time Carnmore held the lead by one point.
The second half produced some great displays from Padraic O Connell, Michael Paul Flaherty, Ronan Walsh and Sean Mannion and the entire full back line who stood up to incessant pressure towards the end as Mullagh looked for a game winning goal. The Carnmore full forward line was a continuous threat with the ageless Tomás Grealish, Damian Fahy and the exciting Daniel Commins.
