Kilconieron 1-10

Carnmore needed a last gasp point from a free from Shane Hynes to rescue a draw which they barely deserved against a battling Kilconieron side.
Kilconieron played with the aid of a strong breeze in the first half and got the first point of the game. Carnmore responded with a long range free from Shane Hynes. The sides traded points again - Carnmore's score coming from a TJ Hynes free - before Kilconieron opened up a 2 point lead with 2 placed balls. John Paul O' Connell got Carnmore's first point of the game from play midway through the first half. Kilconieron then got the only goal of the game from a 21 yard free which left the score Carnmore 0-3 Kilconieron 1-4.
Shane Hynes pointed another free for Carnmore before a mini brawl broke out which led to the referee producing three yellow cards - Shane Hynes and Barry Hanley were the Carnmore players booked. Carnmore missed the chance to close the gap when Shane Hynes missed a difficult free. Kilconieron then had a 21 yard free saved but managed to score a point from the resulting play. Barry Hanley fired over a fine point for Carnmore after a surging run down the right wing but Kilconieron had the final say in the first half with a pointed free. This left the half time score Carnmore 0-5 Kilconieron 1-6.
The second half began poorly with a series of stoppages disrupting the flow of the game. During this period Kilconieron had a man sent off for striking TJ Hynes off the ball. With a extra man Carnmore began to cut into Kilconieron's lead, with 2 frees from Shane Hynes followed by a point from midfielder Cathal Hynes. With just a point in the difference Kilconieron raised their game and scored 3 points on the trot. John Paul O' Connell hit back with a point from play to leave the score Carnmore 0-9 Kilconieron 1-9. The sides traded points once more - Carnmore's score from a Shane Hynes free.
With 5 minutes to go Carnmore were 3 points adrift. John Paul O' Connell gave Carnmore some hope with another point from play before corner back Joe Garett fired an excellent long range effort over the bar from midfield. In the last minute of the 3 minutes of injury time Carnmore were given the chance to level the scores as Barry Hanley was fouled in the corner. From the tighest of angles Shane Hynes held his nerve to point his sixth free of the contest to leave the final score Carnmore 0-13 Kilconieron 1-10.
