Senior Hurling Championship 2007
Carnmore 0-09
Kiltormer 0-19
Carnmore suffered a disappointing 10 point defeat to Kiltormer in their second game of the 2007 championship season.
On a blustery day in Ballinasloe, Carnmore never got into their stride and faded badly towards the end as
Kiltormer got the last 6 scores of the game without reply.
For the second game in a row Carnmore got off to a slow start and were 4 points to 1 down after 10 minutes.
Two of Kiltormer's scores came from frees wheras Carnmore's score was a great point on the run from Shane
Hynes.
Carnmore's Cathal Hynes got a good point from midfield but that was quickly cancelled out by a point from
a free by Kiltormer.
Shane Hynes pointed a free for Carnmore after some good work by Declan O' Brien to leave the score
Carnmore 0-3 Kiltormer 0-5.
Kiltormer extended their lead with 2 more pointed frees as John Paul O' Connell pointed for Carnmore to
keep them in touch.
Kiltormer then got another score from play and appropriately they had the final say of the first half
with a pointed free - their sixth of the half.
This left the half-time score Carnmore 0-4 Kiltormer 0-9.
Kiltormer started the second half where they had left off from the first
and scored the first point.
Carnmore seemed to be stunned into action and they started to eat into Kiltormer's lead. Shane Hynes scored
3 frees in a row and John Paul O 'Connell got his second score of the day. Sandwiched between these scores was a point
from Kiltormer. This left the score Carnmore 0-8 Kiltormer 0-11.
Kiltormer however didn't buckle under the pressure as they got the next 2 scores. Barry Hanley responded for
Carnmore with a fine point from play however this was to be Carnmore's last score of the contest.
Kiltormer scored 6 points in the final 10 minutes as Carnmore tried hard, but in vain to make any in-roads
into their lead.
This was a desperately disappointing defeat for Carnmore who now have a 3 week break until their next
game against 2006 All-Ireland Champions Portumna.
The final score was Carnmore 0-9 Kiltormer 0-19.
