Senior Hurling Championship 2008

Carnmore 0-13
Turloughmore 1-10

Carnmore took on Turloughmore in their second round of the Safety Direct Senior Hurling Championship. Several injury worries including T.J Hynes were haunting the Carnmore side. T.J Hynes did play the match in centre-back with an outstanding performance.
Turlough were the first to settle and managed to catch an early lead with a goal, which rattled Carnmores nerves. The team eventually came to terms and didn’t allow the momentum to side completely with Turlough. Carnmore closed the gap at half time to a goal with scores from Shane Hynes and George Hanley.
The second half proved to be just as exciting. The half, lacking scores, had turned into a more physical battle. Cathal Hynes felt the effect of it and was replaced by Mickey Grealish. Turlough kept their lead for most of the second half, but it was obvious that Carnmore were constantly gaining strength. A superb performance from Declan O’Brien did not allow Turlough to take the points by setting up several scores.
Shane Hynes was on form with his frees and got an impressive tally of 10 points. Enda Cooney and Barry Hanley both got a point each and the game went on level for a lengthy period of time. Carnmore had the chances to win the game, but too many wides denied them.
