U-16 Hurling Semi-Final Result:
Carnmore 3-06 Pearses 1-09
Carnmore U-16s had a great win over Pearses after a titanic match played
in Kenny Park, Athenry on Monday 10th September.
The reds started very strongly and full forward Paul Fox scored two early goals but Pearses are a
fine team and finished the half playing the better hurling and the teams
were deadlocked at Carnmore 2-02 Pearses 1-05 at half time.
Pearses continued to dominate at midfield in the second half but great blocks by Alan Trainor in
goals and a very solid full back display by Darren Fahy and good corner back
work by Cathal Hanley and Eoin Clarke kept them from pulling away. The half
back line of Stephen Phealen, Stephen Nally and Garry Grealish worked very
hard. Like the previous game Donie Fox and Martin Talbot got a grip at
midfield as did Matthew Moran at centre forward and the game began to swing
in Carnmore's favour. Aaron Fox had three pointed frees and Paul Fox got
his third goal to leave the final score 3-06 to 1-09.

U-16 Hurling Championship Quarter-Final Result:
Carnmore U-16 Hurlers defeated Leitrim/Kilnadeema in the quarter final of the championship on Thursday 30th August. The final result was Carnmore 3-15 Leitrim/Kilnadeema 1-13.
Carnmore played with the aid of the wind in the first half and early scores from Aaron, Daniel and
Donie Fox and a well taken goal by Matthew Moran gave Carnmore a good start. However Kilnadeema clawed their way back into the match and when they goaled near half time only three points seperated the teams with Kilnadeema looking the stronger.
Kilnadeema kept putting on the pressure in the second half and went ahead by a
point midway through but some great saves by Alan Trainor and great defence by
Cathal Hanley, Darren Fahy, Steve Nally and Garry Grealish blocked out
attack after attack.
When Donie Fox and Martin Talbot got on top at
midfield and the introduction of Paul Fox at full forward the game swung
completely and goals from Glen McArdle and Paul Fox and an exellent last
quarter display by Donie Fox was enough to settle the tie. Final score
Carnmore 3-15 to 1-13.
